We have an immediate opening for an Electrical Engineer. The successful candidate will work alongside and collaborate with mechanical and other engineering disciplines in the design of high-tech LED lighting products located in our Corporate Headquarters in Farmingdale, New Jersey along with providing technical support and training to our production engineers located in Roxboro, NC, Penang, Malaysia Ensenada, Mexico.

You will contribute to the design, development and testing of electrical equipment, components or systems and their comprehensive integration to an end product.

The successful candidate will apply engineering knowledge to specify and design electrical schematics and layouts for power supplies, controllers and light engines.  You will have the opportunity to work on challenging state of the art projects and make a meaningful contribution to the success of Dialight using your technical knowledge and capability.

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Develops functional prototypes and conducts laboratory testing to determine both product reliability and performance specifications, sometimes with the assistance of junior engineers
  2. Supports manufacturing of existing product lines by communicating issues, generating engineering change orders, collaborating on process improvements, etc.
  3. Generates documentation for products including but not limited to bill of materials, installation manuals and production test procedures.
  4. Executes process controlled changes to existing bill of materials and engineering drawings.
  5. Communicates findings in both peer reviews and detailed technical reports
  6. Collaborates with senior engineers over the course of new product development
  7. Achieves deliverables on time and is responsible to meet group commitments
  8. Executes tasks on multiple assignments
  9. Participates in customer visits
  10. Interacts with suppliers and material vendors

 

Required Education and Experience

  1. Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering
  2. 4 to 7 years of experience in electrical engineering design
  3. Basic knowledge of Electrical schematic and PCB Layout software (Altium, Eagle, Orcad, Pcad)
  4. Comfortable in a fast-paced environment
  5. Some presentation skills (written and verbal), MS Excel, Word and Power Point
  6. Basic understanding of different EMC standards, issues and ability to help solve related issues.
  7. Analog and digital circuit understanding and ability to debug and resolve issues.
  8. Work closely with firmware engineers and systems engineers for circuit design.
  9. Thorough understanding of power supply and LED driver of different wattage rating (50W – 500W)
  10. Ability to use an oscilloscope, multi-meter and a spectrum analyzer
  11. Strong organizational skills

Travel less than 10% of time.

Nice to Have Experience

  1. Applying mathematical and engineering principles and methods to electrical system designs.
  2. Familiarity w/firmware/software, microchip and integrated circuits.
  3. Knowledge of C, C++
  4. Usage of basic hand tools (soldering)
  5. LED Lighting products
  6. Power supplies, circuit boards and other electronics
  7. Cables and wiring
