Summary

The Director of ESG will be responsible for establishing business intelligence and incorporating market insights into the creation of the global ESG plan. These responsibilities include but are not limited to: analyzing trends in the ESG space and providing actionable recommendations, leading internal teams in the creation and tracking of KPIs, maintaining ESG credentials and Report, representing Dialight at key industry events, partnering with Marketing on the development of ESG materials, and informing the broader Dialight organization of the company’s ESG progress.

Our ideal candidate will be able to distill complex regulations into simple, actionable insights, be able to represent Dialight externally at relevant meetings, and be able to drive internal teams toward a achieving these goals.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Follow global ESG communications/trends such as those from core customers and distributors, industry associations, sustainability organizations, government regulations, and competitors.
  • Gather notes and distill information into reports for senior management and the CEO-led ESG Committee to action on a monthly basis and ad hoc as required.
  • Research key sustainability organizations that Dialight should support and prepare budget proposal for anticipated spends. Identify opportunities for Carbon offset with anticipated spends.
  • In support of 2040 Carbon Neutral commitment, identify and work with external Sustainability Workplace vendors to help craft projects for each department and benchmark Dialight sustainable practices.
  • Work with department heads to set KPIs, assess progress and ensure successful completion per the timelines.
  • Maintain external-facing databases, subscriptions, and credentials. This includes keeping applications up-to-date for the Science Based Targets Initiative, CDP, EcoVadis and others. Project manage EPD and other applications with regard to ESG credentials for products.
  • Maintain Sustainability Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) highlighting progress for stakeholders. Liaise with appropriate departments to gather information on their progress and milestones and develop action plans where performance is not on target.
  • Work with Marketing team to prepare a comprehensive external-facing ESG report to be published on website.
  • Investigate leading edge Sustainable digital tools for data capture and reporting.
  • Serve as the Dialight spokesperson in Sustainability organization meetings and identify appropriate senior management to participate in the ESG program. Attend social impact networking events, participate in outreach and communication efforts to build relationships, contribute to marketing and thought leadership campaigns and ESG web page.
  • Identify speaking and networking opportunities for appropriate members of management team. Create target prospective customer lists and support strategic accounts team sales efforts with presentations, stats, etc.
  • Support the ongoing development of the global Dialight community ESG practices through education and training on drivers of environmental and social impacts, program practices and implementation of processes and standards.
  • Working in concert with Dialight Foundation board, organize local volunteer projects that allow greater Dialight team to participate in activities to improve our communities.
  • Collaborate with HR and Marketing to create employer brand strategy with sustainability in mind.

Travel

Up to 30% domestic and international travel

Required Education and Experience

  • BA/ BS Degree required.
  • At least 5+ years of work experience with increasing levels of responsibility in a technical field.
  • Prior experience working with implementing an ESG program in another company is desirable.
  • Experience dealing with government and industry organizations or nonprofit helpful.
  • Experience in Marketing is nice to have.
  • Demonstrable experience of owning and managing processes from start to finish.
  • Demonstrable experience of leading cross-functional teams effectively (through dotted line reporting).
  • Self-starter that can cope with an evolving landscape as regulations continue to evolve.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication and presentation skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
  • Excellent analytical strategic and problem solving skills.
  • Excellent teamwork and collaboration skills.
