Dialight Expansion Adds New Jobs, Doubling Headcount at Roxboro, North Carolina Manufacturing Facility
Helping the economy and the environment through manufacture of “clean technologies†Farmingdale, NJ – (August 4, 2010) – Dialight (LSE: DIA.L), an innovative global leader in LED lighting technology, has expanded a significant portion of its product manufacturing, including molding and hard coating operations, to its Roxboro, North Carolina facility. The facility will now produce environmentally friendly LED lighting and signaling solutions. This has effectively repatriated more than fifty production jobs and spurred more than $1 million in facility upgrades and investments to make Dialight’s Roxboro plant one of the only LED lighting technology manufacturing facilities of its kind in the U.S. Dialight has invested in new equipment, bringing state-of-the-art molding equipment, vacuum metalizing, CNC machining and a one-of-a-kind hard coating clean room specifically designed for the manufacturing of LED traffic lighting products at their Roxboro facility. As a result of the expansion, headcount has more than doubled at the facility, creating numerous job opportunities for plastics engineers, manufacturing engineers and supervisors, as well as many direct labor positions. The Roxboro facility now houses manufacturing operations for Dialight’s traffic lights, military vehicle lights, bus lighting, networking light pipes and LED auto assembly machines, making these energy efficient LED lighting solutions compliant with the government’s “Buy American†and “Made in USA†manufacturing requirements for projects funded under the 2009 American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. “Bringing manufacturing back to America is a win-win scenario. We’re helping the economy by creating new jobs, and at the same time we’re finding it more cost-effective to have these operations in Roxboro,†commented Roy Burton, Dialight’s Group Chief Executive. “We intend to strategically move more operations to our Roxboro facility in the coming months in the hopes that we will create even more new jobs involved in the production of clean technology lighting products that not only benefit the environment, but also come with an assurance of quality that is synonymous with manufacturing in America.†“Growing a green economy in North Carolina is a priority for us,†said Deputy Secretary Dale Carroll, North Carolina Department of Commerce. “Dialight’s continued investment in Roxboro is important in that effort and emphasizes that our state’s highly skilled workforce will enable them to expand production of its energy-efficient, environmentally friendly lighting solutions.†Dialight welcomes and encourages any interested state and federal agencies to visit its Roxboro manufacturing plant. Visitors will have the opportunity to tour the clean technology manufacturing cells and see firsthand how effectively manufacturing operations can be brought back to the U.S. Tours can be arranged through James Sargeant, Roxboro Plant Manager, via email at jsargeant@dialight.com.
