Dialight Promotes Rizwan Ahmad to Lead Global Commercial Smart Grid & Metering Business

Farmingdale, NJ (September 21st, 2010)—Dialight (LSE: DIA.L), an innovative global leader in LED lighting technology and service control electromagnetic relays, announced today that Rizwan Ahmad has been promoted to Director, Global Business Development – Smart Grid & Metering for Dialight’s service control relays and valves business for electricity and gas meters. A 10-year Dialight veteran with extensive experience in the development of products for electric and gas utilities, Ahmad will focus on global market development to expand Dialight’s reach in the smart metering products space around the world, including key markets in the U.S., Europe, Australia/New Zealand, Asia-Pacific, Africa and Central America. Dialight’s service control disconnect/reconnect relay is a critical component in the deployment of smart metering technology as countries including the United States, Great Britain, China, Australia, New Zealand, Taiwan, India and many others rapidly transition to smart grid systems to better manage residential energy consumption. “Rizwan’s technological expertise and extensive experience in working with both OEMs and the utility markets will give us a significant advantage in aligning our strategy to capitalize on the growth opportunities in this industry,” said Roy Burton, Dialight’s Group Chief Executive. “We’re pleased to have him leading our efforts to claim a significant share of this expanding market.” Ahmad has been a pioneer in the introduction of wireless reconnect/disconnect products for electricity meters and holds several product patents as a result of his work. Prior to his work at Dialight, Ahmad worked with Lucent Technologies/Bell Laboratories (now Alcatel-Lucent) for the development of telecommunication products. He holds a Bachelor’s of Engineering in Electronics/Telecommunications and a Master’s of Engineering in Digital Signal Processing.
