DIALIGHT Plc
Major endorsement for white obstruction tower lighting
Applied LED lighting technology specialist Dialight Plc, today announced that it
has received commitments from a major US Telecommunications Tower Operator to
adopt its unique White LED Strobe Lighting. Valued at an estimated $12m over the
next 24 months, initial shipments will start in the second half of 2009. The
volumes of product expected from these agreements represent less than 5% of the
installed base of towers that could be retrofitted with these Dialight
products.
LED lighting products make a significant contribution to the fight against
global warming by reducing the power consumption of lighting by up to 60% in
some cases and the products last considerably longer than conventional light
sources. It is for these reasons LED lighting is at the beginning of a steep
growth curve.
Dialight CEO, Roy Burton, comments: “I am delighted to announce this significant
commitment for our LED tower products, so soon after the introduction of this
leading edge technology. This agreement highlights the level of momentum that is
building in the switch from traditional lighting applications to LED and we
anticipate a strong pipeline of further orders as other tower operators
recognize the substantial benefits that LED lighting offers.
This is just one more example of the value creating and environmentally friendly
products developed by our scientists and engineers for customers in demanding
applications”.

About Dialight PLC
Dialight plc (LSE: DIA.L) is leading the lighting revolution for industrial
users across the world. Applying leading edge LED technology it produces
retro-fittable lighting fixtures designed specifically for hazardous locations,
obstruction lighting, traffic and rail signalling to vastly reduce maintenance,
save energy, improve safety and ease disposal. Versions of these high
specification luminaires are also produced for more general industrial and
outdoor situations. The company is headquartered in the UK with operating
locations in the UK, USA, Germany and Mexico. More information is available at
dialightdev.wpenginepowered.com.
About the Application
The all LED Dialight Medium Intensity White Strobe and Red Beacon is designed
for the lighting of radio towers, wind generators and other obstructions to
aerial navigation, as specified by the FAA and FCC.
The Dual L864 / L865 uses LED technology for light output from both the Red
Beacon and White Strobe. Unlike conventional Xenon flashtube technology, little
or no maintenance is required during its lifetime.
Working voltages of less than 200VDC are significantly less than those of Xenon
flashtube designs; therefore, this system represents an advance in safety. The
Dialight Dual L864 / L865 LED beacon operates from a 110/230VAC 50/60 Hz supply.
The power supply / control box can be located up to 550 ft away from the light
engine, such as at the base of the tower.
