Short Abstract: Dialight Introduces First SafeSite® LED High Bay Fixture Classified for Hazardous Locations
First of Its Kind High-Bay Luminaire Delivers 67 Lumens per Watt, Reduces Energy Consumption, Maintenance Costs for Wide Range of Industrial, Petrochemical and Other Rugged Applications.
Farmingdale, NJ (May 4, 2010) – Dialight (LSE: DIA.L), an innovative global leader in LED lighting technology, today announced the debut of its new SafeSite® LED High Bay Fixtures for Hazardous Locations (Hazloc). A breakthrough in LED industrial lighting technology, the SafeSite LED High Bay luminaire is designed specifically to replace conventional high bay fixtures in hazardous locations, including gas facilities, oil refineries, chemical and processing plants, paper/pulp mills, waste and sewage treatment facilities.
Offering exceptional light output performance for up to 10 years, SafeSite LED High Bay Hazloc fixtures significantly reduce maintenance, eliminating the costly and sometimes dangerous bulb changes regularly required for traditional HID fixtures. Backed by Dialight’s five-year warranty, SafeSite Hazloc LED High Bay fixtures offer outstanding reliability and safety, with offering a T5 temperature code at -40F to +149F (-40C to +65C).
Dialight’s SafeSite LED High Bay fixture is the first of its kind to achieve NEC certification to the following hazardous location codes:
UL-844: UL-8750
Class I, Div 1 CSA 22.2 #137
Class I, Div 2 IP66
Class II, Div 1
Class II, Div 2
Class III, Div 1
Class III, Div 2
The Dialight SafeSite High Bay fixture incorporates Cree’s XLamp® XP-G LEDs and delivers unprecedented energy efficiency with four different models providing up to 10,000 lumens at just 150W total power consumption. An exceptional power factor greater than .95 further reduces stand-by energy consumption. NEC certified for use in the most extreme conditions, including petroleum refineries, drilling platforms and fuel service and handling areas, the SafeSite LED High Bay fixtures provide crisp, clear, white light for maximum visibility and safety in virtually any harsh environment, including marine locations.
“Our SafeSite High Bay fixture is the most durable, energy-efficient device approved for hazardous locations on the market,” said Roy Burton, Dialight’s Group Chief Executive. “These classified approved fixtures allow hazardous site operators to realize all the benefits of LED technology, including dramatically reduced energy consumption, less environmental impact and lower maintenance costs, with a bright white light for maximum visual acuity and safety.”
Conventional operating voltage makes change out from traditional high- or low-pressure sodium, metal halide or mercury vapor fixtures to SafeSite LED fixtures quick, safe and easy using existing wiring. The SafeSite Hazloc fixtures’ lightweight, low-profile design is about half the weight and 75% shorter than conventional fixtures, allowing for increased mounting versatility and ease of installation.
Instant on/off operation enhances safety, while shock and vibration resistant construction ensures durability in the most unforgiving environments. Mercury-free LEDs are recyclable, eliminating the costly handling and disposal fees commonly required for traditional bulbs.
“These highly-efficient fixtures not only help cut operating and maintenance costs, but also align perfectly with our customers’ sustainability initiatives, providing a greener, money-saving solution to hazloc lighting,” Burton said. “They’re even approved by the International Dark-Sky Association for their light pollution reduction characteristics.”
